"Batuella..." Goten said to himself, he had not been himself since he lost that fight; instead of his usual carefree self he had been pushing himself to the max, training all day, so he could one day beat him. Goten had been able to do two hundred and twenty push-ups a day now, so it was his new goal to push himself further than two hundred and twenty maybe even to two hundred and fifty. Goten stopped as he reached the count of two hundred and ten, he rolled over; he looked t the sky remembering what had happened in the fight.
Flashback
Goten had just pulled off his best Kamehameha yet, it had not only stopped his opponent's attack but also hit him. Goten was proud even if he lost he wanted a rematch, "What's your name?" he asked but a beam had been coming for him. The beam hit him and it had hurt him, a lot. Goten covered the part the beam had hit he was bleeding but he fell, he fell to the ground. The beam could have killed him if a bit more energy was applied but he was lucky that his life was spared, "Batuella..." he heard faintly, as he slowly lost consciousness, he drifted off, his wound bleeding in the snow. Would he survive?
Goten woke up, his wound had finished bleeding. He was almost sure he had completely run out of blood but he was to die slowly, to soak in all the pain. He clutched the room, it was hurting. It wasn't big but it was surely not small. It felt like the beam had gone through him but he didn't want to think about it. He was known to be cheerful but serious when the mood was right. It wasn't the cheerful mood for sure but just what kind of mood was it.
He rested until he was sure he had enough energy to fly, and then he jumped up and began to fly slowly. He couldn't go too fast but he didn't want to go too slow. He just wanted the pain to end, he flew until he reached a town, then he limped around still clutching his wound as he looked for the hospital. But he was too slow...he collapsed.
His eyes blinked slowly open, he looked around he was in a bed, and there was a strange beeping noise. He was in a hospital. He got up his wounds had been treated, he looked through the window and he could see his mother, walking around anxiously. Would her son be alright? Goten couldn't hold the consciousness for long he drifted off again but this time, he was sure he would come back.
The next thing he knew he was in his bedroom and he felt like nothing happened, but as they say the psychological wounds are the hardest to heal.
End Flashback
Goten opened his eyes it was like a nightmare, but it had already happened. He knew the ending but it was still scary. Losing to an unknown creature called "Batuella.", almost getting killed, having to be carried to the hospital, waking up in his bedroom. It was all like a dream but a dream that was hard to wake up from. That was when he learned something: The past is unchangeable but you chose your future. He had chosen his future; he was going to get a lot stronger so he would never have to lose again.
Goten couldn't train much but he pushed himself to his limit. The wound was still healing, it would take a bit more time but he was okay with that, it only meant another goal: Work hard so that it doesn't happen again. Goten was still watching the clouds he had many memories of the Arctic: climbing to the top of a mountain, training all day, journeying to it on foot, finding the Master's house and solving the riddle.
Goten was still lying on the grass, he had just remembered something he lost sight of, the answer to the riddle. He forgot the answer, just back there he was training for the selfish purpose of not losing a battle again but his answer was using your strength to help other people. He had lost himself, his real purpose although it would take a while to revert back to his old self. He had just taken a big step.
